WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

Not All Nutritionists Are Created Equal.

Many people are surprised to learn that the term “nutritionist” isn’t regulated in most states — virtually anyone can call themselves one, regardless of education or training.

  • Registered Dietitians (RDs) are licensed healthcare professionals who must:

    • Earn a bachelor’s (and often master’s) degree in nutrition or dietetics

    • Complete a 1,000+ hour supervised internship

    • Pass a national registration exam

    • Maintain ongoing professional education

  • Extensive training ensures that RDs provide safe, evidence-based care — especially important for patients with chronic conditions or those taking novel weight loss medications, such as GLP-1s.

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is often covered by insurance for conditions like diabetes, kidney disease, and obesity. Although we are strictly cash-pay at this moment, Lori will be credentialed with many major insurance plans in the coming months. We’re happy to help you verify your coverage and make the process easy.

  • Although everyone can benefit from preventive nutrition guidance, some are more likely to need advanced care. Seek a dietitian if:

    • You have with a medical diagnosis like diabetes, high blood pressure, or fatty liver

    • You're using GLP-1 medications and need expert guidance

    • You’re looking for long-term results based on science, not fad diets

    • You want help navigating eating habits, weight loss, or emotional eating

ABOUT WELLFED

WellFed Clinical Nutrition aspires to support medical providers and patients in the Wilmington area by offering evidence-based nutrition that complements, rather than competes with, medical care plans to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Lori is a licensed and credentialed Registered Dietitian with a Master of Science in Applied Nutrition from the University of New England. After personally experiencing the emotional and physical toll of obesity within her family and life, Lori was inspired to pursue her own wellness journey, which later bloomed into a career to help others find freedom from that same burden. She is the mom to 3 boys who keep her busy and laughing with a myriad of soccer games and fart jokes.

Lori believes in teaching, not telling — equipping you with the skills and knowledge to thrive long after your appointments end.
